Easiest way to ensure the user is out of AyaNova is if the users' computer is shut down - than they definitely are not accessing the AyaNova database.
Major updates that affect the database itself - like updating from 3.1.7 to 3.2.1 - do require that all users be out of the AyaNova database, so that only one computer first logs in using the latest file versions to update your database.
QuickFix updates that replace program files only do not affect the database directly.
